Efficient mobile workforce management could help fleets meet EU CO2 emissions targets, according to a recent report from Goodyear Dunlop, called ‘The Road to 2012.’

The tyre making company stated that 15 per cent of haulage firms are concerned they could be out to work within just eight years due to increased environmental regulations.

The report, which was based on interviews with 400 haulage firms of various sizes, is intended to, “help fleets better understand, and therefore better prepare for, the needs of the road transport industry in 2020 and beyond.” The survey found that 30 per cent of the haulers in Europe have no plans in place to try to respond to the new legislation over CO2 emissions that are expected to come into force in the coming decade.

The report claims that 18 per cent of haulage firms claim that further incentives for more intelligence and efficient management of fleets will help them to deal with the problem. Deploying work management software and service desk management software can help haulage firms to ensure that their mobile workforce is tracked and managed efficiently.
